Epoxy Resin Coaster Care Instructions

Epoxy Resin Coaster Care Instructions

Everyday Cleaning

  • Wipe the surface regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth (microfiber works best) to remove dust and light spills. This is often all that's needed.
  • For stickier messes or fingerprints, use damp soft cloth with warm water and a tiny drop of mild dish soap. Gently wipe, then immediately dry thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth to prevent water spots.
  • Hand-wash only when necessary: Submerge briefly in warm soapy water, gently clean with a soft sponge or cloth, rinse well, and pat dry. Avoid soaking for long periods.
  • Never place in the dishwasher—the heat, harsh detergents, and prolonged water exposure can damage the resin or cause clouding.

Heat Protection

  • Epoxy resin coasters are not fully heat-proof. Most standard epoxy can handle warm drinks (up to ~125°F / 52°C once fully cured), but hot pots, mugs straight from boiling water, or very hot items can cause softening, marks, white rings, or permanent damage.
  • Always use these coasters under warm (not scalding hot) beverages. For very hot items, place a trivet or extra mat underneath, or use a different surface.
  • Full heat resistance and hardness typically develop after 21–30 days of curing—avoid extreme heat during this initial period.

Avoid These to Prevent Damage

  • Direct sunlight or UV exposure for long periods → can cause yellowing or fading over time, especially with non-UV-resistant resins. Store or display away from bright windows when not in use.
  • Abrasive materials → No scouring pads, steel wool, rough sponges, or harsh scrubbers—they can scratch the glossy finish.
  • Harsh chemicals → Avoid acetone, bleach (undiluted), ammonia-based cleaners, alcohol-heavy products, or abrasive polishes. If needed for tough spots, a very diluted vinegar solution on a soft cloth is safer, followed by a thorough rinse and dry.
  • Dropping or banging → While tough, hard impacts can chip edges or crack the resin.
  • Extreme temperatures → Don't leave in very hot cars, near heaters, radiators, ovens, or open flames.

Additional Tips

  • For a quick shine refresh, buff gently with a clean microfiber cloth (no polishes needed in most cases).
  • If coasters stick together when stacked (common with fresh resin), separate gently and let them cure longer—full cure can take up to 30 days for maximum hardness.
  • Store flat in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent warping or sticking.

With gentle care, your epoxy resin coasters should stay stunning and functional for a long time. Enjoy them! If your coasters were made with a specific brand of resin, check that manufacturer's guidelines for any unique recommendations.
